Migrating from Sound Cloud to Band Camp
It's been a long time coming, but I've decided that I'm going to shutter my SoundCloud account and move all the tracks and content over to BandCamp. This is not going to be any small amount of work...I've been on there since SC first came on the scene. My first rack was posted 13 years ago. It really shows my development (or lack thereof) over the last decade and a half. Moving that is going to be a lot of work.
So why am I doing it? Basically, because I'm tired of maintaining, essentially, two very nearly identical presences and since BandCamp makes it slightly easier for someone to *pay me* for my work, I've decided to go that way. I've decided to get away from the album release cycle and just go for lots of smaller releases of 3 or 4..or even just one or two tracks. This will allow me to hit the BandCamp algorithm a little harder and, as I said, make it easier for people to support me by buying a track they like.
Also, as a platform, it doesn't seem like SoundCloud is evolving in any way. Its been stagnant a long time. I'm going to go back to using it for what it was always best for - posting demos or tests I run. It will not be a place for my finished works anymore.
So that's it. Moving from SoundCloud to BandCamp. Go follow me on BandCamp if you haven't (noisetheorem.bandcamp.com) and go listen to my SoundCloud for one last time if you'd like (www.soundcloud.com/noisetheorem/)
