Moving the studio…again
For the past few weeks, I’ve been moving the studio into a bigger room in the house. Adult child moving back in pushed my office/study back downstairs and since the guest room was going to repurposed and was bigger than my studio, I decided to move the Studio into the new room and my Office into what was the Studio. This is a better use of space.
At this point, I've got the audio setup...mostly. At least I have a configuration for my patch bays that allows me to basically send anything from anywhere in the room to anywhere in the room where I may want it. Only took 6 48point patch bays and enough cables to go from here to Chicago 17 times, but it's done.
90% of the MIDI is done. Mostly it's all USB anyway. I do have to figure out how to get the same Anything from anywhere to anywhere setup that I have with Audio.
And something is going to have to be done about all these sequencer/controller boxes I have. I have to decide which ones to keep in the setup and which I will just store away on the shelf for when I feel like a different approach. Right now, Ive got the Squarp Hapax, Arturia Beat Step Pro, Doepfer Dark Time, and the Korg SQ64 that are taking up desk space. I feel a cull coming on...
Aside from that, I'vce also started actually working on a track. It started with just putzing around on the TG33 and so far, it's just a long series of digital drones off of that all composed in BitWig (I love MIDI editing in BitWig. Somehow it is much more efficient than in Ableton Live). I think I'm going to sample the 12 minute drone at double speed and see what the MPC or Octactrack does to it..
