So where is the *(&( live stream?

The last time I played live, this was my rig.

At the start of January, I announced that I was going to get back to streaming, and marked mid January for when I would start. That has now come and went, and we are heading into the end of January and then February. So what happened?

In the interested of transparency I can put it down to these bullet points:

  • I had a bout of anxiety at the beginning of the month mixed with a sudden dip into my seasonal depression. This required a medication adjustment which, I am glad to say, is working.

  • I had unexpected problems with the latest MPC update which introduced a bug that broke a few of my tracks. Yep...they finally got me (Damn you, Akai Pro! Damn you!)

  • I am a perfectionist, so I want to get this right. I admit I overestimated how ready I was to put a show together or the work it would take to get there.

That's the crux of it, really. Particularly that last one. I have been making progress but I've had to make some changes and learn some new processes.

For one, as I've documented here, I've had a sort of awakening to the power of the Octatrack mkII. The original OT was central to my old live shows, and it was also essential in my first album (Dust: http://noisetheorem.bandcamp.com/dust), but even then I didn't really understand just all it could do. Suddenly, It's become clear to me just how much power is there and how I can use it to make a performance.

So how long is this going to take? Well...it will take as long as it takes. I think I will have about 30 minutes or so within another week, and I'd like to have a 45 minute performance for you all. If that takes to the end of February, then so be it. I'm not going to give an inferior product in the name of making some artificial deadline. This is streaming from my home, after all. I can do that any time I want to.

(of course, if you'd like to give me a show and book me in for a live performance, shoot me an e-mail: Tony@noisetheorem.com)
